Privacy Policy
Effective July 5, 2026
ToothHurty ("we," "us") operates toothhurty.ai, a free educational dental symptom assessment that can, at your request, connect you with a local dental practice. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've written it to be actually readable.
What we collect
- Information you type into the assessment — your description of your symptoms and your answers to follow-up questions.
- Contact details you submit — name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code, only if you fill out a connection or inquiry form.
- Approximate location — your network's approximate ZIP code, inferred from your IP address, used only to suggest a nearby practice. It prefills an editable field; we never use it silently.
- Usage data — standard analytics (pages visited, device type, general region) collected via Vercel Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies on this site.
How we use it
- To run the assessment and give you an urgency read on your symptoms.
- To connect you with a dental practice when you ask us to — this is the core of what we do.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
Who we share it with
- Your matched dental practice. When you submit the connection form, we send your contact details, symptom summary, and urgency level to the practice we match you with, so they can reach out. This is the purpose of the form and happens only when you submit it.
- Service providers that make the site work: Anthropic (processes assessment conversations to generate responses), Vercel (hosting and analytics), and Google (spreadsheet and email infrastructure for delivering leads). These providers process data on our behalf.
- Nobody else. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
What we are — and aren't
ToothHurty provides general educational information only. We are not a healthcare provider, we don't diagnose or treat anything, and using the site does not create a dentist-patient relationship. The information you share with us is not a medical record, and ToothHurty is not subject to HIPAA. Once you become a patient of a dental practice, the information you share with that practice is governed by their privacy practices and applicable healthcare law.
Retention
Assessment conversations that you don't attach to a connection request aren't stored beyond what's needed to operate the service. Lead information (your contact details and symptom summary) is retained so we and your matched practice can follow up, and for our records of the referral. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Your choices and rights
- You can use the assessment without submitting any contact information.
- You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@toothhurty.ai. We'll respond within 30 days.
- California residents: we don't sell or "share" (as defined by the CCPA/CPRA) personal information, and we honor access and deletion requests as described above.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Parents or guardians may use the assessment on behalf of a minor in their care.
Changes
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page.
